Odyssey is introducing a new approach to spaceflight software development and testing: Commercial Class A. Our Commercial Class A processes builds on 20 years of experience and modern techniques to deliver a level of safety and reliability comparable to NASA’s Class A human-rating with reduced overhead.

Our all new Encore™ Framework and STAGE Ecosystem were developed using these processes and offer a Commercial Class A foundation for kick-starting robust solutions that reduce cost, schedule, and technical risk. But you don’t need to build a human-rated mission to capitalize on this confidence. Our solutions are scalable and configurable across most space-based systems, and our processes and tools can work with other software architectures, such as core Flight System (cFS).

Odyssey is proud to introduce Encore™; a NEW, modular, modern flight software framework designed to support rapid development for a variety of flight software architectures and avionics configurations and platforms. Odyssey leveraged its many years of flight software experience to identify and address an important gap in the changing space industry – and created Encore™.

Encore™ is based on Odyssey’s Commercial Class A software processes to provide high reliability and determinism for projects ranging from small satellites and science missions to sophisticated rovers and complex, real-time, safety-critical, embedded systems. It is designed to scale from single processors to multi-core, multi-computer, fault-tolerant systems typical of human-rated missions. Encore™ provides many configurable functions, utilities, and applications, as well as a flexible approach to system interfaces to reduce cost, risk and schedule. Odyssey’s Encore™ framework works seamlessly with our companion STAGE™ Ecosystem to simplify and accelerate development and testing – and get you to flight faster.

The Xiphos Q7 is targeted for the first Encore™ spaceflight demo.

Odyssey’s STAGE™ ecosystem is a modular set of tools, simulations, and infrastructure that enables automated, repeatable, and reliable integrated flight software development and testing across software and hardware environments. It works seamlessly with our ENCORE™ Framework for Commercial Class A development but can be tailored to work with nearly any flight software framework, including cFS, Simulink, or your custom solution.

The STAGE™ tools have been developed with rigor, consistent with NASA Class C software development requirements, to support verification of safety critical, high-reliability flight software, but can be used for any software class to increase code quality, reduce risk, and improve odds of mission success.

STAGE™ is defaulted to work with simulations based on NASA’s open-source Trick environment yet is tailorable to work with other simulation frameworks and tools.

Odyssey has extensive experience with NASA’s open-source Core Flight System (cFS) at all software architecture levels for both government and commercial space missions and customers. These include ground demonstrators, ISS payloads, free-flying LEO satellites, a lunar spacecraft, a Mars orbiter, and an asteroid rendezvous mission.

Odyssey offers companion licensable components, utilities, tools, and applications built for various versions of cFS to help kick-start flight software projects. Odyssey’s STAGE™ Ecosystem is also compatible with cFS-based systems. There’s no need to re-re-re-invent the wheel

Odyssey is offering a modular set of spacecraft Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) algorithms, flight software and simulation models for licensing. Drawing on 20 years of extensive GNC spaceflight experience, our configurable applications and solutions span everything from simple attitude control and orbit maneuvering in LEO missions to autonomous rendezvous and proximity operations. We also offer integrated simulations that exercise flight software and GNC coupled with a vast library of verified and validated high-fidelity sensor, effector and environment models.

Our GNC solutions are designed to meet the demands of commercial and government programs with determinism, safety, and reliability, and have been developed in accordance with Odyssey’s Commercial Class A process to meet even human-rated, NASA Class A standards and requirements.
