May 31st, 2024: We’ve already talked about the presentation Odyssey members gave at the FSW Workshop earlier this month, but what did the presentation cover? Without bringing in our own spacecraft to show off the Commercial Class A capabilities of ENCORETM, we instead brought in a custom setup using three Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit boards. Two flight software demos were shown:

  1. A full ENCORETM& STAGETM ecosystem demonstration of our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) FSW. Each of the 3 boards ran identical GNC software, receiving inputs from a dynamics simulation and sending outputs to a downstream box for voting. Voted data was ingested and acted upon by dynamics simulation. The resulting simulated physical state was rendered in the Unreal engine with 3D graphics displays of the space shuttle approaching the ISS on a nominal final approach rendezvous scenario along the R-bar. We ran this scenario at 3x real-time, showing faster than real-time capabilities useful for development and test. Midway through the scenario we cut the power to one of the boards letting the remaining two boards continue uninterrupted as the scenario continued to completion.
  2. The second demonstration was of ENCORETM’s ability to reintegrate after signal loss – Using a simple LED display, we showed a voted job state. ENCORETM was set to run real-time at a 1 Hz update rate. Power to random boards was cycled at different times allowing the ENCORETM framework to handle the board dropouts/reintegrations into the larger job. Because of this capability, the update interval and job state were preserved throughout the demonstration.

Check back soon as we hope to have a video of the demonstration and presentation available. In the meantime, if you want to know more about the products we offer, please check out our Products page or contact us directly!
