Job Description:

Qualified candidates will be innovative, analytical, and excited to further space exploration through their work on practical and impactful projects. Candidates are expected to have experience and be proficient with:

  • Developing and utilizing system safety and reliability analyses including hazard analysis, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and other analytical methods to assess vehicle hardware, software, and human interactions as well as ground support operations for the Lunar Terrain Vehicle mission
  • Coordinate with hardware and software systems to collect failure and operations data to inform modeling
  • Provide modeling and data analysis for design and operational trade studies to support risk informed decision making
  • May also support analytical and development tasks to assess vulnerabilities of systems and identify mitigation approaches and performance impacts
  • Create assessment/analysis results in formal reports and present findings and recommendations

Required:

  • U.S. Citizen (or Permanent Resident) is required due to the nature of the work
  • BS/MS/PhD in Engineering or related science/technical field from accredited universities
  • Significant experience with performing FMEA, PRA and Fault Tree Analysis
  • Mathematical/statistical assessment experience with exposure to software such as Mathematica, Matlab, reliability and risk assessment software such as Saphire, @Risk, and/or Relex (Windchill prediction) in addition to Bayesian statistical tools
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience

Desired:

  • Knowledge of NASA flight system safety review process
  • Familiarity with NASA organizations and spaceflight operations
