March 23 – September 28, 2012: The European Space Agency’s third Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV), known as “Edoardo Amaldi,” has successfully completed a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The ATV was launched into orbit on March 23, 2012 via an Ariane 5 rocket, docking to the aft port of the ISS Russian Segment “Zvezda” module on March 28, 2012 at 22:38 GMT. After a successful six-month attached phase that included various operations including nine reboosts of ISS, Edoardo Amaldi undocked and burnt up harmlessly in the upper atmosphere at 01:30 GMT on September 28th, 2012.
